The Barefoot Eco Hotel*** is located in the north of the charming island of Hanimaadhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll. It extends over more than 800 meters right on the private sandy beach. The hotel is the only one in the Maldives surrounded by tropical greenery and is also inhabited by local residents. The length of the island is 7 km and the width is only 500 m.
This wonderful resort is immersed in untouched nature so as to provide privacy but also opportunity discover the real Maldives. The origin of the hotel dates back to 2014 a priority for the sustainability of tourism, biodiversity and the wonders of the Maldives. Thanks to determination and tireless work towards sustainability, the hotel was awarded in 2021 sustainable hotel certificate from the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
The Barefoot Eco Hotel*** offers accommodation in different categories. Double room with a view of the garden (Seaside Room DZX1) has wide patio doors overlooking a cozy wooden veranda right next to the endless white beach. In a room with a side view of the sea (Beachside Room DZM3) you will find a private patio with a swing. These rooms are built back to back to guarantee privacy and peace. Family room (Family Room DZM2) provides an area of up to 100 m² including a veranda. Ocean view room (Ocean View Room DZM1) will delight you with an excellent tropical sunset and a unique panoramic view of the Indian Ocean. Rooms on the beach (Beach Front Room DZF1) are on the ground floor and have direct access to the white sandy beach.
You can choose a stay with breakfast, half board or full board. Barefoot main restaurant offers international cuisine from those the highest quality raw materials; seafood is delivered fresh and full of flavor. Enjoy the freshest and tastiest juices and mocktails from panoramic Juice bar (for payment). Raanee snack bar (for a fee) is a cozy and authentic bar where you can taste delicious Maldivian snacks. Floating bar on a boat (for a fee), located near the hotel's lagoon, will be a unique experience that you didn't even think could exist. This charming overwater bar has plenty to offer cocktails, beers and wines along with an amazing view of the sunset or stargazing. Selected alcoholic beverages are available at the bar Black Pearl (for a fee), located at of the Dhoni ship anchored at sea. No alcoholic beverages are available directly on the hotel island.
Private natural beach with fine sand it is equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds. A beautiful 15-meter swimming pool with salt water it is immersed in untouched nature with an incredible view of the blue lagoon. The resort offers fully equipped the gym, windsurfing, Hobie Cat sailing, paddling also an exclusive cruise on the traditional Dhoni. Pre-trip information:
- Official name of the country: Republic of Maldives (Republic of Maldives)
- Entry conditions: For tourist trips of up to 30 days, a visa is granted free of charge upon arrival in the country if the following conditions are met: passport valid min. 6 months after return; return travel document; A special departure tax of USD 25 is required to be paid at the airport. Payment is mandatory for all adults. It is paid at the airport in Male in cash or by card. After payment, the passenger receives two slips – for himself and for his boarding pass.
- Health care: Resorts usually have their own doctor at their disposal. Each atoll has a state hospital or at least a medical center in the central city.
- Local specifics: Public holidays in the Maldives are Friday and Saturday. The time difference is +4 hours compared to the winter Central European time. However, the export of corals and other marine resources is prohibited. In addition to the local currency, US dollars are commonly used in the country (also in the markets). Drugs are strictly prohibited and their possession is punishable by life imprisonment. Nudism is strictly prohibited. Swimming in swimsuits is allowed only on beaches reserved for tourists. Sunbathing without a top is not allowed and can be punished by a fine of up to $500 and banishment from the country for life.

| We have had an excellent experience with the Balnea Grand facility, we have returned here for the third time, the level of all-inclusive food is excellent, all meals are prepared from quality ingredients. Served drinks are such a classic. The buffet by the pool offers fast food-type food, which is delicious. The outdoor pool is suitable for smaller and older children, but also for seniors, the indoor pool is more suitable for older children and adults. The surroundings of the hotel are in a pleasant park on a spa island, an ideal place for relaxing walks. The hotel staff is pleasant and polite. The rooms of the Grand wing were renovated approximately 20 years ago, some rooms have newer equipment, the rooms have a refrigerator and a TV. The bathroom and toilet are older, but clean and well maintained. The advantage is also the possibility to pick up your pet for an additional fee, our dachshund has been very happy here for years. Now, however, we have come to relax without him. | |

| most of the whole hotel we were satisfied with the food, there was a large selection of dishes, fruits, vegetable salads and desserts. As for accommodation, it was nice, and the neighbors accommodated - specifically foreigners from Ukraine, who repeatedly smoked on the balcony. after the announcement made at the reception, we were told that we were unlucky because we had no proof. the Ukrainians allegedly told them that they did not smoke, while we talked to them and one of them blew smoke into the husband in protest with the words "sejcas smatriii" (look at the translation now). I would like to draw the attention of the hotel management that instead of writing meaningless questionnaires (which would deserve the attention of the Slovak) on arrival, they should consider giving clients signing the hotel's conditions, which can be punished by a fine in case of violation. I also have a comment on the pools .. since these are relaxing stays, where peace and quiet should be observed, this is not respected by parents with children who are screaming, stunned and generally noisy .. | |
